Aroma: an alluring bouquet of roses, dry tobacco leaf, and fennel
Palate: homemade raspberry jam, blackberry, white pepper and baking spice
Finish: medium bodied with silky, soft tannins
At 56% Grenache, 23% Syrah, and 21% Mourvedre (Now considered Graciano), this wine is an example of raw terroir and varietal characteristics. All three varieties fight to dominate in the glass, a harmony of strength and complexity. Cherry, plum, and notes of rose water from the Grenache, leather, cola, and smoked meat from the Syrah. The Graciano lends more earthy notes of white pepper, clove and black tea. This wine is soft with generous, savory acidity. After spending 14.5 months in 50% small concrete barrels and 50% in 500L puncheons, the wine finishes with an elegant touch of espresso-flavored, caramel candy.
